About Our Russian Blue Cattery in Texas

Silvermist Russian Blue is a small, in-home cattery based in Grand Prairie, Texas. We focus on one breed, raise our kittens in the middle of family life, and place them with families across Texas as well as Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico. Here is a little about how we got started and how we do things.

Our Story

"Silvermist started with one cat and a quiet love for the breed."

I have kept cats most of my life, but the first time a Russian Blue walked into my home, something shifted. The quiet way she watched a room. The soft chirp she made at the window. The way she would press her forehead into my hand at the end of the day. After raising a few litters and seeing how attached the new families became, I decided to focus on Russian Blues for good. You can see the kittens we currently have on the available kittens page.

Silvermist Russian Blue

Russian Blues are a particular kind of cat. Loyal but not clingy. Sharp without being pushy. They tend to pick one or two people in the household to bond with deeply, and then they stay close for life. If you have lived with the breed before, you already know. If this is your first Russian Blue, you are in for a steady, gentle companion.

Today Silvermist is a small home-based cattery in Grand Prairie, just outside Dallas. We have placed kittens with families across Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Fort Worth, and we also help families in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico. Every kitten is raised in our living room, not in a separate building, which means they grow up with the sounds and rhythms of a normal household from the start.

Our goal is simple. Healthy kittens, honest answers, and families that stay in touch long after pickup day. Have a look at our adoption process when you are ready, or just send us a note with your questions.

Why Families Choose a Russian Blue

Calm and Affectionate

Russian Blues bond hard with their household. They like being near you, often in the same room, without needing to be on your lap every minute.

Healthy Breed

One of the easier purebreds to live with. Few known genetic problems and a lifespan that often passes 15 years with normal care.

Easier on Allergies

Russian Blues produce less of the Fel d 1 protein and have a dense double coat that holds dander close. Not allergy-proof, but many sensitive owners do well with them.

Smart and Watchful

They learn routines fast. They notice when something is new in the room. Many of ours play fetch and most will come when called by name.
